The Sixers are coming off a wire-to-wire win against the Celtics again

Certainly, the Sixers and Celtics clash this season promises exciting endings. New illustration last night with this 3rd round win by Nick Nurse’s men thanks to a game winning basket by Kelly Oubre Jr. a few seconds from the end (102-100).
To say the least, an unexpected hero on the Sixers side, since in the absence of Joel Embiid, Tyreese Maxey was the one who commanded the local attack. With more or less success, because the playmaker was largely distracted by Jordan Walsh, who proved himself with the Celtics.
While his companion, VJ Edgecombe, struggled more, Maxey got the support of two soldiers on the bench, Quentin Grimes and especially Justin Edwards. The former stood out in particular by converting a shot from midfield at the buzzer in the third quarter.

A very important shot to revive the mechanics of the Sixers, rusty after a period of dominance by the visitors. Trailing by 10 points at halftime (51-41), the Celtics made a great comeback, showed more desire on defense and finally showed skill. Like Jaylen Brown in addition to his basketball to begin with, much more successful after.
After him, Derrick White also warmed up from 3-point range to give his team the biggest advantage of the match (68-77). A nice turn softened this basket by Grimes, who a few minutes later would start a long-distance duel with Anfernee Simmonsauthor of 10 points in a row for Boston.
Despite having a three-possession lead with six minutes to go, the visitors suffered a lightning strike from the night’s surprise guest, Justin Edwards. This one, who was served most often by Maxi, scored three winning baskets in a row – in a little more than a minute of the game – to restore the advantage to the Sixers (93-92). But the brown and white duo did not have the last word. After a very long shot by the second, on a pass from the first, the two teams found themselves in a tie.
That’s where Brown forgot Aubrey on the rebound, after Edwards’ miss from behind the arc with ten seconds left. White will have one last chance, but Andre Drummond, the author of a solid double-double, will interfere with his last attempt, which Neemias Cueta will not be able to save.

WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Justin Edwards’ almost perfect evening. He blamed himself for missing this shot that would have taken his match to another dimension. Tirese McKay buried himself in the opponent’s racket and added skin to the head of the racket. Perfect opportunity to finish off the Celtics. But the winger missed the mark for the first time this evening. Without serious consequences for his team either, because Oubre was there under the circle, not even for him. Because he was a real catalyst, especially in the fourth quarter, for Philadelphia with his 22 points (8/9 shooting including 5/6 from distance). An undrafted player has yet to exceed 10 points this season.
– Address concerns remain for the Celtics. The renewed skill in the second half hardly hides the number of missed shots by the Celtics in the first half. The latter shot just 39% on the night, including 34% on 3-pointers. Since the start of the season, Joe Mazzula’s men have not finished a single game with more than 40% success from behind the arc. At just 32.8% in practice, Boston, whose offense has focused on this in recent years, is the 4th most clumsy team in the league.
– Four points difference… in three matches. This is a pretty staggering cumulative difference between the two teams since the start of the season. The Sixers won first duel for one point in Boston (116-117). The Celtics did the same during the second match (108-109), before losing this round by two points. The fourth and final regular season round will take place much later in the season, in Boston on March 1, 2026.
