Mike Brown crowns OG Anunoby as All-Star, DPOI amid hot streak

The New York Knicks found their rhythm. Not only have they won their last five games, they’ve won them all by double digits. On Tuesday, it was the Memphis Grizzlies’ turn to get excited about it a new and improved Knicks team under new head coach Mike Brownas New York won 133-120, which wasn’t as close as the final score would suggest.

The most hyped Knicks players will attract most of the headlines. Jalen Brunson had another double-double with 30 points with assists. Karl-Anthony Towns endured another 20-10 night. Mikal Bridges continued to fill the statistics, adding 22 points, five rebounds and seven dinars.

But what keeps going under the radar is the game And the Anunobi. But for Brown, that shouldn’t be the case. In fact, the Knicks head coach believes Anunoby is deserves all the accolades in the world — including All-Star honors and major Defensive Player of the Year attention.

“OG is an All-Star in my opinion. Not only is he an All-Star, he’s a defensive player. In my opinion, he should have an opportunity, among others in our group, to compete for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year,” Brown said, via SNI’s Colin Martin.

Anunoby was a big part of why the Knicks have second best offense in the association. Brown touts the huge strides he’s made on the offensive end, and the jump in play he’s made is catching the attention of the Knicks’ top prospect.

“He just buys into what we’re trying to do offensively with his talent, his size, his athleticism, his IQ. It just shows that he can still go to another level as a playmaker,” Brown added.

The softer schedule of late has really helped the Knicks, but their play befits an NBA powerhouse. The closest they’ve come to beating a team in their last five games is 12 (against the Chicago Bulls).

They will be tested more in the next few games. Their next five contests will be against the Orlando Magic (twice), Miami Heat (twice) and Dallas Mavericks.
