Gershon Yabusele is still looking for rhythm and minutes with the Knicks

“Sometimes he’s going to be able to play a lot of minutes, sometimes a little bit, or not at all. That’s something our guys have to accept while we find the right formula.” These were the words of Mike Brown at the beginning of Novemberbefore starting the Knicks’ five-game winning streak, in a tie Guerschon Yabusele.

Noting hasn’t really changed since then, averaging just 10 minutes during this great streak. How can the Frenchman get more playing time? Is it his responsibility if he plays a little or is it the coach’s choice?

“Everybody’s still learning. Basically, there aren’t that many minutes. I’m not sure it’s his fault.”, answered Knicks coach before win against the Grizzlies. “Sometimes it’s the circumstances. I bring him on, I bring him on. It’s hard to get that rhythm. I have to take my role. In time, because he’s a good player, he’ll show it. He needs minutes to show it, and I’m not sure he’ll always get it.”

During the reception of Memphis, Gershon Yabusele had 15 minutes to express himself, entered the floor in the first quarter and finished the game with 2 points and 6 rebounds.

“Jabu played hard and he has to keep it up,” comments Mike Brown.“His pace was good, especially on offense. When he needed to make screens, he was good at creating space. He was great at setting screens and coming off them.”
