Shai Gilgeous-Alexander climbed the franchise rankings, embarrassed the Lakers
The The Oklahoma City Thunder keep rolling. Despite playing back-to-back nights against quality opposition in Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Thunder remained dominant, leaving nothing to chance as they destroyed the Lakers 121-92 in a game that was even more lopsided than the already skewed scoreline would suggest.
The catalyst for OKC’s victory, as usual, was the reigning NBA regular season MVP and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He wasted no time putting the Lakers’ defense on the mixer, and finished with his usual 30 points to go along with five rebounds, nine assists and two steals.
Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points again on the night is now tied Russell Westbrook tied for the second-highest 30-point game in Thunder history, per Brandon Rabar of the Daily Thunder. It’s only fitting that the SGA tied Westbrook’s record on the exact date of the 2017 NBA MVP’s birthday, as the current Thunder star leaves himself quite the legacy with a team that has now arguably surpassed Westbrook’s.
Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 30 or more points in 11 of the Thunder’s first 13 games of the season, and his reliability on the offensive end frees up the rest of the roster to fill their roles to a T.
It is interesting that the Thunder have been this dominant even though they have started the new campaign Jaylen Williams has yet to suit up this season and Lou Dort is also dealing with an injury.
Thunder cannot be stopped

This Thunder team will soon be on their way to another title if this continues. They have been so dominant defensively that they simply need Gilgeous-Alexander to be typical for them to get wins.
They are now 12-1 after destroying the Lakers, and the next few games should be very winnable for OKC (their next four games will be against the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz – teams that are combined for just one more win than OKC).
