Alec DeBrincat talks about what must be done to break the brutal slump

The The Detroit Red Wings started the season on a big hot streak. The team seemed to take a step forward after a nearly decade-long postseason drought. However, Detroit fell off the cliff again. The Red Wings have lost four of their last five games. And they’ve lost their grip near the top of the Atlantic Division.
The Red Wings haven’t played since Sunday. That game was not the team’s best effort. Detroit lost 5-1 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks led by former Detroit head coach Jeff Blashill. Blashill’s new team didn’t give the Red Wings many chances. And there’s only one way to do it can solve this problemaccording to Alex DeBrinket.
“We have to be a physical and tough team to play against,” the Detroit forward — and Michigan native — told the team’s official website. “We give it up too easily, so we have to beat our 50-50 in the O-zone and D-zone. Really, all over the ice. Just getting back to that work ethic and just playing is going to be what’s best for us.”
Detroit took advantage of its rare extended time. Coach Todd McLellan had his team practice on Tuesday. It’s all about trying to play more in the dirtier aspects of the game.
“We have some length, some guys that are long and tall. We have some girth. Those players have to give us more than that. Smaller players can do that, too. They can roll,” the Red Wings coach said, via the team’s official website.
“Sometimes they’re the hardest to handle in and around blue because they have a low center of gravity, they’re fast and they have to rush in and out. We just don’t see enough of them right now.”
Detroit returns to the ice Thursday night to take on the Anaheim Ducks at home.
