Will Mark Williams play back-to-back? Jordan Ott scores

ever from the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, one question about Mark Williams continues to be a major focus for Phoenix.

When he was on the court, he showed he was a great center with his rim protection, paint presence, athleticism and enthusiasm.

Although Suns coach Jordan Ott laid out the vision for Williams; his vision has not changed. He kept saying Williams wouldn’t play in back-to-back games, and that’s something the latter agreed to.

However, that perception could be changing. The numbers with Williams are too big. His teammates continue to rave about him, and he’s won them in several close games.

After a 31-minute game against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, the team will play in Phoenix against the Indiana Pacers.

Could Williams opt out or will he end up playing? Ott gave his answergave his answer after Wednesday’s game.

“It all affects what we have going forward. We’ve had a great dialogue with Mark. We’ve had a plan all along,” Ott said via AZCentral’s Duane Rankin on X (formerly Twitter). “He’s done an amazing job sticking with it.”

“We’ll talk to him again and see how he reacts not just tonight, but tomorrow morning. We needed him again. He’s got such great size, versatility on both ends. He was able to put some paint pressure inside. I still think we’re lacking a little bit on the edge, but we’ll continue to try to figure it out.”

Suns’ Mark Williams could lift Jordan Ott’s minutes restriction

Plans are constantly changing on a game-by-game basis. Again, the main question surrounding Williams was his health.

Other than the back-to-back, he was available and was the best center in the rotation.

The potential has always been there, but it’s a matter of availability, and he’s been all that so far.

Williams is a two-time dual threat who has been a major factor in the Suns’ defensive improvements.

Either way, the team will hope Williams is ready for the back. But if not, they will continue to trust Ott’s process.
