Jason Kidd, Ty Luw’s brutally honest thoughts on the NBA Cup

Before the game, the head coaches Jason Kidd and Tyronn Lue share your thoughts at the tournament, making it clear that they both support him.
“It’s a great tournament, everyone is playing extremely hard,” Kidd told reporters. “We understand what’s at stake. Tonight is about finding a win.”
“I think it’s great,” Lue said. “Every game means something. When guys who play this game have a chance to win some kind of championship in the middle of the season, everything counts. Winning counts no matter what. I think it’s been great for our league. Whatever Mr. (Adam) Silver does, it’s always great for our league.”
The NBA Cup is an in-season tournament that makes games in November even more important than previously thought. Teams are competing for a chance to win the NBA Cup, something the Mavericks and The Clippers would love to score. In addition, the tournament gave teams the opportunity to showcase customized pitches and alternative kits.

Both Anthony Davis and PJ Washington will not play Friday night due to injuries. The good news, however, is that Derek Lively II will return from injury. Lively has played in just three games this season, so the Mavericks are hoping he can provide a key boost.
