Fans go wild after Victor Wembanyama crashed his own alley-oop

While facing the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs All-Star Victor Vembanyama threw a street ball off the backboard onto himself for an eye-opening dunk. Vembanjama and Spurs looked set to make a comeback in their rematch of Wednesday night’s 125-120 loss, but fell short by one point (109-108) in Friday’s NBA Cup game. The Warriors beat San Antonio for the second time in two days.

However, the performance of the night went to Vembanyama for his street dunkwhich went off like a pump fake from the arch itself — Wemby made it to the rim in a hurry.

Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry could do nothing but smile on his way to collect the inbound pass as both teams made their way back to the floor. Vembanyama led five Spurs players in double figures with 26 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, including De’Aaron Fox (24 points, 10 assists) and Julian Champagne, who scored 14 points off the bench, including four 3-pointers.

Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama does not take facing the Warriors for granted. It’s the team he watched win multiple championships as a kid. He talked about the respect he has for Curry and the Warriors after Wednesday’s loss.

“It’s a very special team to play against,” Vembanyama said.

Then he nearly beat them in Friday night’s NBA Cup game. Before the game, Vembanjama thanked Curry for his kind words about the Spurs center.

“It feels good to have such a great player complementing you,” Wembanyama said. “But nothing has been proven yet, and I have everything to prove that they came here. I feel there is a lot of hope for me. So I feel good.”

The Spurs fell to 8-4 after a pair of losses to the Warriors.
