In double overtime, James Harden relieves the Clippers in Dallas
They needed two overtimes, but Clippers have finally broken a streak of six consecutive defeats!
It’s on the floor Dallasduring the NBA Cup, which Tyronn Lue’s players revived (133-127), but it was complicated. Despite the huge triple-double of James Harden (41 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists), big double-doubleIvica Zubac (27 points, 11 rebounds) and a big contribution off the bench Bogdan Bogdanovic (21 points on 5/8 away), it took two overtimes for Los Angeles to win…
James Harden and his teammates took a quick lead, but Klay Thompson remembered he had a great wrister to get Dallas back in the game, and Jason Kidd’s players didn’t give up.
D’Angelo Russell (28 points) responded to the Harden/Zubac duo in the money and even had the winning shot, but his shot bounced into the circle, Daniel Gafford could not convert the shot. Overtime.
It’s Cooper Flagg who works alongside Nicolas Batum to answer James Harden in those five extra minutes, but “The Beard” has a chance to kill the meeting. Except his layup was blocked by Daniel Gafford and if the referees whistle, it’s only to confirm that the block is legal.
Max Christie gets confused while dribbling and we go to the second overtime (123-123). But D’Angelo Russell loses ball after ball and the Clippers run away (133-127) to take a breather.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– James Harden’s 82nd triple-double. With 41 points on 13/25 shooting, including 6/12 from distance, 14 rebounds and 11 assists, the Clippers point guard recorded his 82nd career triple-double. And the Clippers really needed it…
– D’Angelo Russell, so close to becoming a Dallas hero. With his 28 points off the bench, the leader almost became the man of the match. His timing on the money, in the fourth quarter, was almost perfect. He just couldn’t make that final shot that could have beaten the Mavericks. Unfortunately, the rest was much less sparkling as he lost precious possessions in extra time.
– Derek Lively II returns. Absent for nine games, the pivot returned discreetly (4 points, 5 rebounds), while the Clippers had to deal with Kawhi Leonard. And obviously without Bradley Beal.
