EuroBasket 2027: Great Britain beat Austria 85-81
The British women were defeated by Austria 85-81 in the qualifiers for the 2027 European Championships in Vienna.
In the second of six Group D games, Temi Fagbenle scored 22 points for GB, one behind Austria’s leader Sina Elka Hollerl, while Holly Warburton chipped in 18 in a tight game with 16 turnovers in the lead.
The guests trailed 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but by halftime they stole the lead and led by one point.
The sides stayed within touching distance after the break, but Great Britain could not prevent the hosts from claiming victory, leaving Austria top of the group.
