Anthony Davis’ ‘good progress’ injury news comes with a catch

Anthony Davis was initially listed as a suspect for Dallas Mavericks‘ game on Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, the Mavs star was ultimately ruled out. He has already missed eight straight games with a left calf strain and there is no set timeline for his return. Dallas did provide an update on its status before Sunday’s game though.

“Mavericks forward/center.” Anthony Daviswho has missed the last eight games with a left calf strain, was recently re-evaluated,” the Mavs said. “The evaluation indicated that Davis is making good progress in his recovery. He will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days and further updates will be provided as appropriate.”

Davis is apparently “progressing well” as he continues to recover from the aforementioned calf injury. That said, there is still uncertainty surrounding the situation. He is not expected to re-evaluate for at least another week, and the re-evaluation date is not a prediction for his return date.

At 3-10 overall, Dallas desperately needs an AD on the floor. Without him, the Mavericks have serious question marks. Even with him the team is far from perfect, but he’s a two-way star that will help things when he returns.

for now, Davis calf injury will force him to miss at least another week of basketball, and possibly more. As Mavericks said, updates will continue to be provided as they become available.

As for Sunday night’s game, the Mavs will host the Blazers at 7:30 PM EST at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
