Bam Adebayo gives encouraging update on toe injury as he nears return

MIAMI – S Miami Heat star Tyler Herp is back in training on Sunday, marking a huge step in the All-Star team’s recovery from last season, there was also a key update for Bam Adebayo. As it is The captain in the heat was dealing with a toe injuryhe would also be present at training, giving insight into his pain level and when he could return to playing matches.

Adebayo has missed the past five games with what is being reported as a “left toe sprain,” as he was confirmed to miss a sixth straight game on Monday against the New York Knicks. However, Adebayo said after Sunday’s practice that he is making progress and that the pain level is in a better place.

“A lot less pain than I had,” Adebayo said. “A lot less. So I’m working on getting out there.”

As for when he will return to play, his next opportunity will be on Wednesday against Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors, a matchup fans will no doubt be waiting for. While it remains to be seen if he will return then, Adebayo would say it’s “good” to be back with the squad in training as the coaching staff “try to protect me from myself”.

“It depends on the training staff,” Adebayo said when asked when he would return. “Obviously, they’re trying to protect me from myself. But it felt good just being out there (in practice). The camaraderie, just being with the guys again, even though it doesn’t seem as far as it is, even though I’m on the sideline, there’s a big difference between being out there and obviously being on the sideline.”

While it is The heat is going through back troublesthere’s no denying that Adebayo’s return will help the team’s overall performance on the glass. Since Miami has the third-worst defensive rebounding percentage in the NBA at 66.1 percent, which is the percentage of available defensive rebounds that the team grabs, that number jumps to 74 percent when Adebayo is on the floor.

With the Heat’s two leaders returning to practice, there’s no doubt that brings a “boosting energy”, as the head coach Erik Spoelstra he said after Sunday’s practice.

“It was great to have (Hero) and Bam in that third unit today,” Spoelstra said. “That third unit seemed like they had a boost in energy and confidence with those two in it. So we’re just going to keep building,” he said. “You don’t have a timeline on them, but obviously it’s a big step today.”

The only player excited to see Herro, and especially Adebayo, back in training was Kel’el Warewho usually leads the starting frontcourt with the active captain. He also talked about the energy they brought and how “good” it was to witness them in the basketball routine.

“The energy was good,” Ware told ClutchPoints. “The energy is always good, you know, it was good to see them, to see them in practice. To see them running around, to see them move well.”

Either way, as fans await the return of Adebayo and Ware, Miami looks to right the ship as the team takes on the Knicks in a rematch on Monday night, looking to get back into the win column as they are on a two-game slump.
