LeBron James gets a major injury before the Jazz game

She could Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James to be made his season debut tomorrow? It certainly looks like that could be the case.

After previously being on the ‘Out’ list due to sciatica, which has kept him from playing at all so far this season, James has been upgraded from the Lakers to ‘Questionable’ for tomorrow’s home game against the Utah Jazz. Not only is this the first time this season that James has been listed as anything other than ‘Out’, but it would also seem very promising, given that James has been he trains with the Lakers’ G League team and with the Lakers themselves today, apparently without any downtime.

Without the four-time MVP, the Lakers have done pretty well. Through 14 games, LA is 10-4, good enough for a tie for third place in the Western Conference. Offensively, the Lakers, as expected, relied heavily on the backcourt duo Luka Doncic and Austin Reeveswho average 34.4 and 28.3 points per game. They also average more than 17 combined assists per game, a number that will likely decrease once James, a prolific playmaker, returns to the lineup.

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, will set a new league record player plays most seasons (23) whenever the next in the game manages to take the floor. He is currently tied for the record with Vince Carter, who played 22 seasons from 1998 to 2020.

This is the first season that James has not been cleared to play from the start, and this particular ailment, he says, is one he previously dealt with during the 2023 season. And while that’s concerning for him from a health perspective, it also means he almost certainly won’t be eligible for any awards or honors this year, other than the All-Star. Having already missed 14 games, James, if he returns tomorrow against Utah, would have just three more games to miss against the remaining 68 to qualify for the awards, which require 65 games played.

The Lakers vs. Jazz game starts tomorrow at 7:30 PM PT in Los Angeles.
