Will Naz Reed finally be able to move on?
“It was about time.” Naz Reid he can breathe: he managed two good matches in a row. After scoring 19 points against Denver, he scored 22 against the poor Mavericks, in Minnesota’s big winwith 9/14 clean shooting including 3/6 from beyond the arc.
In the previous four games, he averaged just 7.5 points on 32% shooting and 24% on 3-pointers…
“We know what kind of player he is. When he comes in, we have mental toughness, aggressiveness and that’s huge for us.”, I assure Rudy Gobert. “I keep telling him that he can’t let it affect his offensive performance. He shouldn’t get discouraged because he’s missing shots. It can affect him in different ways. His rebounding, his passing, with his runs.”
Naz Reed added 12 rebounds to his 22 points, and that’s not insignificant. Because defensive activity gives him rhythm. “Once I take care of that, other areas of the game come easily”confides. “I make sure to defend well, to be on the rebound. This is the way I got here, so I’m not going to deviate from this path.”
But that hasn’t stopped the Wolves interior from being erratic at the start of the season. The Minnesota team, as a whole, already is, and there’s no doubt that Naz Reed is still reeling from the death of his sister, at the beginning of Septemberwhich must naturally occupy his mind.
He has already had two good games in a row this season, but he has never made it three. Is it for the next meeting, on Wednesday, against the weak Wizards?
“Shoot, trust your teammates to keep giving you good shots”Chris Finch demands. “When players are a little difficult, they run after them, especially offensively, and it ends up with shots that are harder than necessary. You have to play in the rhythm of the match, shoot well and keep doing the little things.”
