The former Suns star rejects Steve Kerr’s tough claim about the schedule

The Golden State Warriors they have one of the oldest rosters in the association. They even added 39-year-old Al Horford to their core that already consisted of 37-year-old Stephen Curry, 36-year-old Jimmy Butler and 35-year-old Draymond Green. But then the NBA decided to give the Warriors one of their toughest schedules to start the new campaign, as their Tuesday night clash against the Orlando Magic was their 11th road game of the 16-game season.

In fact, the Dubs are in the midst of a six-game road trip, traveling from Oklahoma City to San Antonio to New Orleans to Orlando and then Miami before returning home to San Francisco. Attrition has reached a point another rant from Steve Kerr about the difficulty of the Warriors’ schedulewith the “head coach” even saying this is the “toughest early schedule” he’s ever been on “in his life.”

Nonetheless, one of the game’s old heads, former Phoenix Suns star Eddie Johnson, pushed back to Kerr’s remarks, saying they’ve been through something similar or worse than what the Warriors are going through right now.

“I love Steve, but I have to protect my brothers and him from the past. Many times we played 4 games in 5 nights. That means back to back in different time zones while flying commercial, washing our uniforms in the bathtub and rarely complaining. Play and love the game!” Johnson wrote on his official account on X (formerly Twitter).

If there’s one thing anyone should admit in today’s NBA, it’s that the way the game is played today requires a lot more movement. Teams are prioritizing spacing in the attack, which requires more defensive rotations and more ground to cover – putting more strain on the players’ lower bodies.

Either way, the schedule should return to normal for the Warriors soon. They just have to get through this relatively unscathed, even though they are low double digits against the Magic right nowa 3-1 start to the road against tough opposition is nothing to scoff at.
