In Brooklyn, the Celtics can thank Derrick White

THE Celtics they had to work hard in Brooklyn, but thanks to Derrick White’s huge fourth quarter, Joe Mazzula’s players left with a victory (113-99) and above all a positive result (8v-7d). Long held by the struggling Nets, the Celtics eventually let their experience and their defense speak for themselves.
From the start, Jaylen Brown asserted his hot hand in the moment, with an aggressiveness that immediately put the Nets defense on its heels. To respond, Brooklyn relies on Noah Clowney scoring twice from long range, Egor Demin returning his first shot, and the Nets imposing a physical rhythm. Between a big foul on Neemias Cueto and several muscular exchanges under the circle, the start of the match is tense and the Nets have a nice lead (+11). It’s Peyton Pritchard who restarts the green machine to make it 7-0 to get back to 29-29.
Baylor Scheierman and Josh Minot are interesting off the bench, but ultimately it’s Brown who sets the table again with his aggressiveness toward the circle. Along with him, Pritchard is a real headache for Brooklyn. The energy of Clowney and Michael Porter Jr., but also the desire to play fast, allows the Nets to stay in the game. At the break, the Celtics led only 62-61, and they scored 22 points on the counterattack!
Derrick White tue le match
The return from the locker room was slow for Boston with plenty of turnovers, quick fouls by Jordan Walsh, and Quetta and Brooklyn seized the opportunity to briefly regain control. But awkwardness prevailed on both sides, and the first team to sign a run was Boston. Jaylen Brown woke up first with 17 points in the 3rd quarter alone to take a 10-2 lead. Boston leads 89-85, but nothing is done yet.
Especially since the fourth quarter started very badly: four minutes without a single point with more mistakes and bad choices, and Brooklyn took advantage of the opportunity to get back in front (90-89) thanks to Porter Jr. Finally it was a dunk by Quetta that got Boston back on track and started an 8-0 run. The moment Derrick White chose to end the match. The guard draws fouls, throws in his shots, and even signs a decisive counter to Porter Jr. at the start of “money time.” With an 18-3 run, the Celtics took an 11-point lead (104-93), and the Nets never came back to lose 113-99.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
Green lock. The Celtics stepped up their defense at the best of times with just one field goal in the first ten minutes of the 4th quarter. Porter Jr. is a 3-pointer to put the Nets ahead, and then the Nets will grind their teeth on defense.
The Brooklyn public is still waiting… Seven games, seven losses for the Nets at home. Their fans are still waiting to celebrate their first victory. Maybe it will be for the next derby against the Knicks on November 25.
Boston in the positive. This may seem anecdotal, but this is the first time this season that the Celtics have had a positive 8-7 record. Jaylen Brown’s partners started the season with three losses, and it took them four weeks to regain their balance and then go green.
