Stephen Curry is considering a ‘tug of war’ with Draymond Green

The The Golden State Warriors were playing relatively well so far this year, currently sitting at 9-6 after a recent road win over the New Orleans Pelicans. While Stephen Curry played terribly in that game, he’s been terrific in the previous two contests, dropping 40-plus points on the San Antonio Spurs in back-to-back Golden State wins.

Curry recently stopped by LeBron James and Steve Nash’s “Mind the Game” podcast and talked about his leadership role with the Warriors, especially when he has a fiery personality like Draymond Green also in the locker room.

“I’m thankful to have different personalities around me that fill a different job. Like Draymond, for me in that sense, he’s been that fire that we need on a daily basis. Where they’re going to tell you that you don’t know what you’re getting when you come in every day. But you need that to get you through the times where we need a little spark,” Curry said.

“We need someone to say, whoever’s in that other locker room, make an enemy. That’s not necessarily my nature, but it’s his. And I can take that back to saying okay, don’t cross. Our emotions can’t get the better of us. We’ve got to find that balance somehow. That tug-of-war has always been great over the last 14 years,” he concluded with him.

Yin and yang for warriors

Indeed, Curry and Green have quite different personalities, but they managed to make it work during their time as Warriors teammates, leading the team to four NBA championships in the last decade.

This year, the Warriors are loaded with aging veterans, including those two, along with Jimmy Butler and Al Horford, and hope they can maximize the experience advantage they’ll have over every NBA team while avoiding the injury concerns that come with a roster this old.

The Warriors will next take the floor on Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic on the road.
