In honor of his mother, Michael Jordan makes another donation to the hospital in his hometown

Michael JordanMichael Jordan continues to gravitate away from the floors. He just offered ten million new dollars to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, in honor of his mother, Deloris Jordan. In gratitude, the hospital’s Neuroscience Institute will be named after her.

This donation will help develop access to state-of-the-art neurological care, especially for patients affected by stroke, spinal problems, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other serious pathologies.

“My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community”, Michael Jordan explainedthinking it was the best way to honor him.

Deloris Jordan directs the James R. Jordan and her international partner, for years engaged in education, health and family support programs in the United States and Africa. This donation adds to Michael Jordan’s already strong commitment to Novant Health, including the Michael Jordan Family Medicine Clinics in Charlotte and Wilmington, targeting the most vulnerable populations.

In recent years, the six-time NBA champion thus multiplied donations to allow the establishment of hospitals in North Carolina, and especially in Wilmington, where he had spent his youth.
