Mavericks willing to listen to offers for Anthony Davis
THE Mavericks could already turn the page Anthony Davis. According to information from ESPNDallas will therefore listen to offers for their All-Star interior between now and the next “trade deadline” on February 5th.
While the infielder was expected to return from a calf injury, the owner Patrick Dumont canceled the continuation at the last minute, on the advice of the medical staff, concerned about the risk of relapse. A decision that bypassed GM Nick Harrison… who would eventually be fired three days later.
It has to be said that since the trade of Luka Doncic for the Anthony Davis-led package, the trust between Patrick Dimon and his GM has eroded, as supporters have voiced their displeasure/dismay. The acquisition of the first pick in the draft and the arrival of Cooper Flagg, at 18, gave hope, but also highlighted the time gap with 32-year-old Anthony Davis with a huge contract.
Patrick Dumont and his new “basketball cabinet” (with Mark Cuban back at the table, but more as a consultant than boss), are now considering rebuilding around Cooper Flag. In this plan, Anthony Davis becomes an asset above all else: an elite pivot always capable of bringing in young players and draft picks.
It remains to be seen who will dare to bet big on a player who is as dominant…as fragile as he is. Because the former Pelicans and Lakers have played only 14 games since January 28.
