Las Vegas stars open their eyes about Dallas

Recently, the The Dallas Mavericks have made headlines would firing CEO Nick Harrisonnine months after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a widely publicized move. In light of this decision, many wondered if the new Mavericks regime might trade some veteran talent and embrace a full rebuild around Cooper Flagg.
When the Doncic trade first fell through, many fans floated a conspiracy theory that the move was actually a ploy by the ownership group, led by Patrick Dumont, to eventually get the franchise from Dallas to Las Vegas.
Some fuel was added to that fire with a recent statement from attorney Joshua M. Sandler, who is currently representing the VNBA Dallas Stars in their legal battle against the Mavericks over the American Airlines Center upgrade.
“In 2024, according to Texas Secretary of State filings, the new owners of the Mavericks have designated the location of the team’s main corporate and executive offices as Las Vegas, Nevada, which is 1,200 miles away and located outside the state of Texas,” he said in a statement, according to SE Jenkins, C.B.S. “In other words, the Mavericks engaged in the very conduct they allege entitled them to take complete control of the American Airlines Center.”
The Dumont family does indeed have business ties to Las Vegas, which was first rumored after the Doncic trade.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks’ ownership team is embroiled in a legal battle against the Stars’ ownership over allegations that the Stars’ group resisted renovations to the American Airlines Center in violation of a previous agreement.
Whatever ends up in this legal battle, NBA conspiracy theorists are sure to have a new topic to talk about with this latest development regarding Mavericks ownership.
