Mike Brown’s message on New York’s pursuit of D’Angelo Russell is going wildly viral

The New York Knicks in the background their way to their first away win of the season on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericksescaping thanks to a controversial offensive foul late on the Mavericks. The Knicks did everything they could to lose this one, including missing a few key free throws down the stretch, but in the end, Dallas’ injuries were enough to escape with the win.

At one point in the game, ESPN cameras showed the Knicks head coach Mike Brown in socializing talking to your team during timeouts, and some users were quick to make light one particular direction he gave.

“We’ve got to make some stops … Take it out … Keep finding DLo,” Brown said, per New York Basketball on X, formerly Twitter.

“DLo” of course refers to the Mavericks guard D’Angelo Russellwho was known as an easy target on defense throughout his career.

“Lmaoooo this is the plan to beat teams with DLo!!! I’m sure Denver said the same thing in the conference finals,” one fan wrote in the comments section.

It should be noted that Russell was torching the Knicks up until this timeout, so it’s entirely possible that Brown intended to locate Russell when the Knicks were playing defense rather than shooting at the other end.

That won’t stop Knicks fans from cracking jokes, though.

“It’s actually hilarious,” one fan wrote.

A much-needed win for the Knicks

No matter what Mike Brown thought, the Knicks were sure to win, even if it wasn’t very convincing against a rotten Mavericks team playing without their top three players.

The Knicks are now 9-5 on the season and are dealing with some injuries of their own, including OG Anunobia, who missed the game in Dallas. It was also Jalen Brunson’s first game in the lineup after a brief absence, returning to torch his former team in Dallas.

Either way, the Knicks now have a few days off before taking the floor against the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
