The Clippers hit rock bottom in Orlando

In an attempt to turn things around in their complicated season, the Clippers, still bereft Kawhi Leonardwent to Orlando to challenge the Magic who lost Paolo Banchero. I Chris Dunn opens the score, teammates from Franz Wagner (20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists) quickly took the lead and made the guests chase the score. At the end of the first twelve minutes of the game, the Clippers are behind (34-20) and start the second act with 0/5 shooting. However, the Magic were unable to widen the gap and Tyronn Lue’s men came within one length.
Orlando then decides to step it up and start an 8-0 run capped off with the game-winning shot from Tristan Da Siva (45-36). At the end of this first half, Jalen Suggs (23 points on 8/15 shooting and 5/9 from distance) added two game-winning baskets to give the Magic a 61-49 lead going into the locker room, despite 24 points from James Harden (31 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists) in this first period.
No Clippers in the second half
After the break, Jalen Suggs made his fifth 3-pointer of the night to give the Magic a 15-point lead, their biggest deficit at this point in the game (66-51). Overwhelmed by intensity against a much more aggressive Orlando team, the Clippers can’t come back and Tyronn Lue is trying new things, especially with the rookies coming into the game Janić Konan-Niederhauserwhich the Los Angeles coach rarely uses this season. A change that did not bear fruit on the scoreboard, as the Clippers started the last act with a 17-point deficit (93-76).
Desmond Bane (15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) opens the fourth quarter with a game-winning shot to give his team a twenty-point lead, but more broadly, Jamal Mosley’s men start this final act with four game-winning shots to definitively bury the Clippers. Orlando won fairly comfortably (129-101), while the Clippers suffered their ninth loss in ten games before heading to Charlotte to challenge the Hornets this Saturday at 7 p.m.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
Jalen Suggs puts the Clippers under water. Without Paolo Buncher, injured in the groin, Jalen Suggs took over and allowed the Magic to quickly take control of this matchup. In the first half, leader of Orlando shined with a career-best 20 points in a single half, on 7/11 shooting with four 3-pointers. After the break, he added another game-winning shot to give his team a fifteen-point lead, a deficit the Clippers were never able to close. Jalen Suggs finished this game with 23 units, 3 rebounds and 7 assists.
Orlando started. The Magic are among the worst 3-point teams to start the season with just 33.3% success away before this meeting. However, in the face of weak defense from the Clippers, Orlando chained a 3-point shot. Jalen Suggs came up first, then Desmond Bain also shined with two game-winning touchdowns early in the fourth quarter. Overall, the Magic finished the night 18-of-34 from behind the arc, or 53%.
Fatal turnovers for the Clippers. However, Jalen Suggs and the Magic’s 3-point prowess aren’t the only reasons for this loss for the Angels, who shot themselves in the foot with, once again, too many turnovers. During the entire match, they lost as many as 21 balls compared to only 10 for Magic. As a direct result, Orlando scored 33 points on Clippers turnovers.
