Why Jose Alvarado was fined $2,000 after the Nuggets game

The New Orleans The Pelicans had a disappointing seasonbut the players do what they can to right the ship. Some of them may go to extremes to do whatever it takes and it costs them money out of their own pocket. Jose Alvarado was last player penalized in the league after going down against the Denver Nuggets, and they pocketed $2,000.
It was an obvious miss by Alvarado, as he was defending Bruce Brown, and he fell dramatically to the floor after taking a slight push. Even Brown knew he was down after Alvarado fell to the floor. The league has made it known that players will be disciplined for drama, and they are showing it in real time by punishing players.
Despite the setback, Alvarado is one of the players in the league who tries to compete on every possession, and has the ability to be sneaky and come up with steals on the opposing team when they can’t see him.
His tactics haven’t worked as well this season, but that might not make much of a difference when you look at their record. The Pelicans are near the bottom of the Western Conference and it’s hard to see them turning things around anytime soon. Injuries hurt them once again at the beginning of the year, with Zion Williamson is missing timeas well as Jordan Poole.
Williamson recently returned to the floor, but the team is still waiting for Poole to return. Of course, Dejounte Murray is still recovering from his Achilles injury from last season, and should be back later in the year.
The bright spots for the Pelicans have been young players like Jeremiah Fears and Derrick Quinn. Both have shown that they may have been worthy picks for the Pelicans, and if they can continue to develop as the season continues, the sky could be the limit for them.
