Dylan Harper brightens up Thanksgiving with the gift of a turkey

Saint Anthony Spurs rookie point guard Dylan Harper is currently sidelined with a calf injurybut that didn’t stop him from bringing some holiday cheer to Thanksgiving in the form of a turkey gift.

As part of the Spurs’ efforts to celebrate the holidays, Harper stopped by the Holy Redeemer Parish Center on Friday to host a season of giving where he shared about 200 Thanksgiving turkeys, according to Carolina Teague of the SPURFECT blog.

Harper’s gesture is likely to earn him an assist from Spurs fans as they await his return to the court. No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Harper was an early favorite to NBA Rookie of the Year Award before his injury. Since he was ruled out, the Spurs have returned De’Aaron Fox to the lineup, but have also seen Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle ruled out with injuries in recent days.

Before the calf injury, Harper appeared in six games, all off the bench, logging just over 23 minutes per game. He averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from the three-point line and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

Harper helped the Spurs get off to a strong start to the regular season as they went 5-1 in games in which he played. Since then, the Spurs have gone 6-3 and are currently 11-4 and in fifth place in the Western Conference standings. They are tied for the record with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Lakers hold the current tiebreaker due to their 1-0 record this season.
