Will Domantas Sabonis demand a trade?

The The Sacramento Kings haven’t had a particularly strong start in a new campaign. The front office could look to move key players before the trade deadline, but it doesn’t look like it Domantas Sabonis will leave soon.
According to NBA insider Jake Fisher, it is unlikely that Sabonis will request a trade to leave the Battle Kings. The update comes shortly after it was revealed Sabonis will miss time with a partially torn meniscus.
“Sabonis has nearly $95 million left on his contract over two seasons after this one and is viewed as a defensive liability in the league,” Fisher wrote.
“It’s hard to pay that much for a center who doesn’t protect the rim and shoot threes — no matter how great an offensive center can be,” said one Western Conference executive. Still, Sabonis’ affinity for Sacramento and the high regard in which he is held by the always-involved Kings owner are factors that can be ignored by the anti-trade lobby. advised this week that we don’t expect Sabonis to seek a trade either.
Through the first 11 games of the season, Sabonis averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field.
Kings general manager Scott Perry reportedly plans to build around Keegan Murray and Nick Clifford.
“Furthermore, new general manager Scott Perry is rumored to be realistic about undertaking a multi-year rebuild rather than trying to build a gritty playoff-worthy team out of the ashes of Sacramento’s Beam team. Hopefully Murray and Clifford will be a part of that,” Fisher wrote.
It remains to be seen how the Kings will move forward, but Sabonis’ situation appears to be stable.
