Norman Powell’s groin injury has been downplayed due to the lack of a definitive timeline
MIAMI – S Miami Heat star Tyler Hero shoots his first bucket season in Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, he is now on a roll to return to game fitness, even though the team is missing key pieces. As Herro adjusts to the new Heth attackthe team will have to adapt unnecessarily Norman Powell for now.
While fans were excited to see Herro improve on the injury report on Monday afternoon, one list that stood out was Powell being ruled out with a left groin strain. Because there was cause for concern, especially after ClutchPoints found out that there was no timetable for Powell to come back, coach Erik Spoelstra would play down the injury before Monday’s game, saying it was a concern “not super high.”
“No,” Spoelstra said when asked if there was a setback to Powell’s groin injury. “I think the bigger thing was that it was consecutive. We’re going to treat them day by day. I don’t have a timeline on that, but the level of concern is not too high.”
Erik Spoelstra said there has been no setback since Norman Powell suffered a groin strain in Chicago last Friday.

The reason Spoelstra would be questioned about the possible setback is that after Powell left Friday’s loss to the Chicago Bulls in the first quarter, he returned and finished the game strong, scoring 18 points. He would even start Sunday’s win over the Phillies, looking healthy, scoring 32 points, leading to speculation.
However, Powell will get an MRI that will reveal what is considered a “mild strain” and will be “day-to-day” from here on out, as his presence on the injury report will be strictly monitored.
Erik Spoelstra on the Heat’s new, potentially injury-prone offense

As Powell has been part of the Heat’s transformation this seasonhe fit right in with what Miami wanted to accomplish in an up-tempo, free-flowing offense. So far this season, Powell has led Miami to an average of 25.4 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 46.4 percent from three-point range.
While fans have been wanting to see Powell and Hero backcourt together, they will have to wait a little longer. There may be talk that his league-leading pace could lead to injuries like Powell is currently dealing with, especially since Andrew Wiggins and Nikola Jović still misses games.
“It could potentially be,” Spoelstra said when asked if an up-tempo style could lead to more injuries. “But look, as much as we have to figure out now, you wouldn’t even say Norm’s injury was a strain 10 years ago. You just say he’s in pain, and then you have to say the degree. . . . I see him playing faster, which is true. Competing defense and extending the defense covers more ground than it used to.”
“So you’re moving your body in different ways. Guys are training for it probably better than before,” Spoelstra continued. “So I don’t know where the line is with us right now. Knock on wood, what we’re dealing with right now, three guys, it’s manageable right now. And so we’ll just see where that is. They’re all day, which I’m very thankful for.”
Erik Spoelstra asked about Steve Kerr’s thoughts on soft tissue injuries and tempo and if there is any of that. It says “potentially”.

In any case, it remains to be seen how long Powell, Wiggins and Jovic will be sidelined as they serve as key components of the Heat’s dynamic.
