Why Cade Cunningham was upset despite his 13th straight win

On Monday evening, The Detroit Pistons continued their winning streak with a narrow win on the road over the Indiana Pacersgiving himself a 13th straight win in the process. The Pistons almost tried to put this game away in the end, outscored by eight in the fourth quarter, but eventually held on for a 122-117 win.
Cade Cunninghamas is usually the case, he led Detroit with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, but he spoke after the game why was he not satisfied with team performance.
“We just want to be our best version of ourselves, and tonight was not our best version. So I’m not happy about that,” Cunningham said, via Hunter Patterson of the Athletics.
Indeed, the Pistons weren’t exactly impressive in Monday’s win over a Pacers team that was among the worst in the NBA this year, but they managed to extend their winning streak to 13 games, including three straight on the road.
Detroit is now 15-2 in 2025-26, good for first place in the Eastern Conference by 2.5 games at this early stage. Making matters even more impressive is that the Pistons seemingly aren’t even in full form yet, as they’re still trying to integrate players like Jaden Ivey back into the fold after a recent injury.
Still, with Cunningham leading the way, it’s not hard to imagine the Pistons maintaining a pace at least somewhat comparable to what they’re currently at as the season continues.
Either way, the Pistons will look to extend their winning streak to 14 games when they next take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Oddly enough, that game will kick off at 5:00 PM ET from Boston despite it being on a weekday.
