A 41-point loss to the Magic prompted fans to call for Kyle Lowry

The Philadelphia 76ers they embarrassed themselves in front of their fans on Tuesday as they bowed out to the Orlando Magic, 144-103, in the NBA Cup.

The game was tied at 35-35 after the first quarter. But The Magic blew the game wide open in the next frame after outscoring the 76ers, 51-25. Philadelphia never recovered and suffered its third loss in its last four games. The team fell to 9-8, including 5-5 at home.

With game already solved in the fourth quarter, the fans at Xfinity Mobile Arena wanted to see Kyle Lowry in action.

“There’s a ‘We want Kyle!’ “Sixers fans erupt in cheers with a team down 41 with 4:30 left in the game,” 76ers reporter Derek Bodner said on X.

Sixers coach Nick Nurse, however, refused to pay attention to the noise, as Lowry received another DNP. Nurse and Lowry won a title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.

The veteran guard, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, has played just once this season, recording three points and one assist in three minutes in a win over the Brooklyn Nets earlier this month.

The 39-year-old Lowry was signed by the Sixers last year, adding an experienced presence to the roster. He rebuilt with the team in the offseason, though he saw his role shrink even more.

He appeared in 35 games last season, averaging career lows of 3.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 18.8 minutes per game.

Although Lowry was still able to contribute in short bursts, The 76ers are already loaded in the backcourt with Tirese McKay, VJ Edgecombe, Quentin Grimes, Jared McCain and Eric Gordon already soaking up minutes.
