How Tyler Hero’s return could ‘mix up’ Miami’s new offense
MIAMI – Ace Miami Heat star Tyler Hero made his season debut in Monday night’s 106-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks, he made an immediate impact in his first game since last season’s playoffs. Although Herro enters a new-look offense for the Heat, there could be a slight change as the season progresses.
There’s no denying the speculation with the fan base surrounding Herr’s return and how it will change an offense that has seen early success emphasizing a free-flowing, fast-paced system. With an insult greatly reducing pick-and-rollsthe more it creates an attack on players going downhill, people have been wondering about Hero’s condition.
While Herro showed he can on Monday, scoring 24 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field, he would talk about getting used to the lack of pick-and-rolls, mentioning how the team will “mix” in some down.
“I was ready to call Kel’el a few times,” Herro said. “But you know, we’re just aware of it. I think as the season goes on, we’re going to have to mix in a few pick-and-rolls here and there, but at the end of the day, it’s about patterns and recognition that our offense is based on, how we move without the ball, where we’re supposed to be.”
“I think even if the pick-and-rolls were on offense, we know our spots well enough to get that gap, as long as we’re really detailed with it,” Herro continued. “And right now it’s like I’m going to have two points on Wednesday, I just want to come here and compete, play hard, win. Everybody knows I can score. I’m just trying to win.”
Tyler Hero talks about how to get pick-and-rolls out of his game, even saying he had an instinct to call on Kel’el Ware for a few moments.
“I think as the season goes on we’re going to have to throw in more P&Rs. I think even with the P&Rs on offense, we know our spots well enough…” #HeatNation pic.tvitter.com/EgOdpTZTJo

The warmth Erik Spoelstra on Tyler Herro fits in with the new offense

Doc Heat star Norman Powell looks set to return to the team after dealing with a groin injury that missed monday’s game, we have to wonder how the explosive backfield will fit into the new offense. There’s no worry from Miami, though, and head coach Erik Spoelstra tells ClutchPoints that Herro will “it fits right in.”
“It’s amazing that he can come back and have that rhythm, it’s only going to get better,” Spoelstra said. “And when he’s facing a better defense, you can see why we need that skill. You need as much skill and firepower as possible in this league. And it was just exciting to have him back. There’s no adjustment for him in terms of the way we play. He’ll fit in well. He’ll step up everything we do for him. And we’ll be happy for it to be good.”
“He’s great with catch decisions, making close plays,” Spoelstra continued in response to another question. “Just wait until he gets used to shooting the catch three and playing from the catch that way. … He’s been doing it for years. It won’t take long for everybody to get into a rhythm. We want guys to gain confidence, to grow, and hopefully this becomes something different weeks from now and something much better.”
Asked Erik Spoelstra about Tyler Hero’s season debut in a tough game against the Mavs.
“I thought this was a really good game for us to come through, Dallas is a tough defensive team … it’s amazing that they can come back and have that kind of rhythm…” #HeatNation pic.twitter.com/A1hNLKSiKHD
