Dirk Nowitzki hilariously roasts Luka Doncic after the Lakers beat the Mavs

As Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic faced his former team in the Dallas Mavericksand beat them Friday night 129-119, former player Dirk Nowitzki had a lot to say. Doc Lakers guard Austin Reaves helped Doncic and the team beat DallasNowitzki would humorously call out the former Mavericks center.

With Nowitzki on the broadcast team for Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage, he would call Doncic via Apple’s FaceTime, and when he answered the phone, the German-born player would joke about how Reeves outdid him. This is no doubt a laughing stock, as Doncic finished with 35 points, 11 assists and five rebounds, while Reaves would lead the team with 38 points and eight rebounds.

“Oh, there it is. You weren’t good enough tonight, so we had to take Austin Reeves in for an interview. Sorry, buddy,” Nowitzki said on the Amazon Prime show.

With the mention of Doncic driving into the arena in a Bugatti on Friday, there is no doubt that there is a long-standing friendship between the Lakers guard and Nowitzki, especially since his star days with Dallas. Whenever Doncic has played against the Mavericks since last season’s shock trade, many eyes have been on the contest, but since then it’s been “easier” for a 26-year-old.

“I would say it’s a little easier now, but the games against Dallas always have a special meaning for me. I still have a lot of friends there. It’s fun… It will always be special for me,” Doncic said, according to Mike Curtis.

Either way, Doncic and Los Angeles are now 14-4, and the star is averaging a whopping 35.1 points per game, which currently leads the league. The Lakers are looking for seven straight wins on Sunday night as the team takes on the New Orleans Pelicans.
