Is Mavericks’ Anthony Davis playing against the Clippers? Latest injury update

It was recently announced that Anthony Davis would only play in one of the Dallas Mavericks‘ two consecutive games in Los Angeles. With Davis returns from injury on Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers in a 129-119 loss, the big man is not expected to play Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Jason Kidd reaffirms Davis’ status (not to play Saturday),” DallasHoopsJournal.com’s Grant Afsett published on Friday evening after the Mavs-Lakers game.

The Mavericks will proceed with extreme caution. Friday’s game marked just Davis’ sixth game of the 2025-26 season. A calf strain has forced him to miss significant time, and the Mavs realize the AD player is injury-prone. The last thing they want to do is risk further injury.

While the Mavericks’ official injury report for the second contest of the back-to-back has yet to be released, Davis will not be available Saturday night against the Clippers.

How Anthony Davis played in the return game against the Lakers

Davis played against the Lakers in Los Angeles for the first time since last year’s shocking Friday night trade. He was on a minutes restriction, but still recorded 12 points, five assists, five rebounds and three blocks. AD also went 6-10 from the field.

It was a respectable performance for the Mavericks star after missing about a month of action. The Mavs ended up losing the game, but were competitive for much of the matchup against a talented Lakers team.

Barring any injury setbacks, Anthony Davis will most likely take the floor next Monday night against the Nuggets in Denver.
