Jimmy Butler’s ‘straight a**’ mic drop after a terrible fall is a good sign

As Jimmy Butler leads Golden State Warriors without Stephen Curry who is out with a quad contusion, there was a moment in Saturday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans that worried many fans. Butler would go down hard for the Warriors in the first half of the game, as he said about the dire situation while he plays the rest of the game.

Butler took a humorous approach after the game, seemingly his way of downplaying the fall, responding “just a dick” when asked where he landed. He would go so far as to say he has plenty of “cushions” to fall back on, and Butler said he’s “all good” and ready to play for Tuesday’s big game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I think we have a special team,” Butler said. “So let’s go out there and show we can do something special on Tuesday.”

In the win over the Pelicans, Butler’s performance caught the attention of the “superstar” head coach. Steve Kerras the veteran scored 24 points on seven-of-15 shooting from the field, going 10-of-14 from the free throw line. He would also record 10 assists and eight rebounds, and the offense ran through him effectively.

With The Warriors have a different offensive approach without CurryButler has been called upon to take over, although there could be misconceptions about his style of play. While Butler’s aggressiveness is a strong trait, one would think that he would force his will on every play, but that may not be entirely true.

Kerr would mention that Butler “doesn’t necessarily want to shoot the ball,” preferring to “just play real basketball.” However, as Kerr would say, sometimes a team needs Butler to take over a game.

“Sometimes,” Butler said when asked about the need to do more offensively when Curry is out, according to the Athletic. “But I’m still going to play basketball the right way. If you’re open, I’m going to pass you the ball. I don’t care what anybody says.”

Either way, Butler and Golden State are now 11-10, looking to get a big win against the Thunder on Tuesday.
