He became the second-youngest player in NBA history behind LeBron James to score 30 points in an NBA game, but the reason Thompson is thinking about Bryant has more to do with Byron Scott predicting he will be great.

“I’m not saying he’s going to be Kobe, but I remember this video of Byron Scott looking at the camera and talking about how great Kobe is going to be when he’s 18,” Thompson said, according to The Dallas Morning News. “Sometimes I feel like B-Scott. An old, wise veteran who has the future of the franchise on my side. It’s pretty cool to be a part of, and we’ll all be witnessing what Cooper Flagg does for a long time to come.”

“Yeah, I meant Cooper set the tone early” Kidd said, via the Dallas Hoops Journal. “He was aggressive, he got to the rim. And he did that for 37 minutes that he was on the floor, 38 minutes. He was aggressive. So, again, not just scoring, but being able to find guys, create opportunities for others, and defensively he made some big plays.”
The Mavericks are now 6-15, looking to pick up more wins starting Monday against the Denver Nuggets.
