Why Joel Embiid Wasn’t Even Angry Despite Heartbreaking Loss

The Philadelphia 76ers they took the Atlanta Hawks to double overtime in their last game, but were unable to come away with a victory. It was the first time this season the 76ers had Joel EmbiidTyrese McKay and Joel Embiid on the floor at the same time, but there were still some small restrictions for some of them.

Embiid has only played in seven games this season and hasn’t played since early November as the team is still managing his right knee. Embiid was a full participant in practice for a while, but he noticed that it wasn’t the same as getting live reps with his teammates.

Despite the loss, he is not upset because he’s happy just being on the floor, says Kyle Neubeck of PHLI Sports.

“When it’s been almost a month and you’ve only got two court sessions going up and down, it’s going to be tough,” Embiid said. “It feels like the first game of the season. Build on it, and I’m not even mad about tonight, I’m just happy I got to play basketball. Build on it and go from there the next game, whether the shots are falling or not. I’m not judging myself on the shots falling. It’s all about how I was moving into the evening, all those things were good things.”

There’s no doubt Embiid wants to get on the court and is helping, but his health is very important at this point. If he has to skip a few games here and there to make sure he’s good at the end of the season, it’s just going to have to happen.

At the same time, it could affect the chemistry he has with his teammates, especially if he is rarely available.
