Cowboys-Lions Fantasy Football Week 14. Go ahead, sit ’em

While it is The Dallas Cowboys are coming in highat least The Detroit Lions recognize that this may be their only path to the playoffs. And here’s Week 14 of fantasy football as the lineups begin for the Cowboys vs. Lions clash.

The Thursday Night Football showdown will feature the Cowboys, who are 6-5-1 after winning three straight games. Thrown into the mix, they ran into two teams in last year’s Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, the Lions are 7-5. They’ve lost three of their last five and don’t look like the same team that started 4-1.

Start ’em — Cowbois KB Dak Prescott

Thanksgiving is in the rearview mirror, but Prescott will be celebrating Thursday anyway. Look for him to absolutely set the Lions on fire. They won’t be able to cover any of the Cowboys’ receivers. And Prescott will have a field day.

Look for Prescott to easily surpass the 300-yard passing mark with three touchdown passes.

Prescott said he credits a lot of that his good season to head coach Brian Schottenheimer, according to ESPN.

“I just give him credit for being the same, being consistent, and that’s something he talks about,” Prescott said. “But to actually watch him be consistent and be the same man through adversity and now through some success, he’s a hell of a leader. He’s the right guy for the job. We all follow him. I know you all see the emotional clips and guys follow him, but it’s just during the day.

“If you were in every team meeting, you’d realize it’s Scotty. That’s the way he’s going to lead this group and we’re going to follow him.”

There’s a reason Prescott is heavily considered in the MVP voting. He leads the league in passing yards (3,261), and is tied for second in touchdown passes with 25). He also has the highest KBR in the league (75.3). What’s more, Prescott has thrown just eight interceptions this season. Simply put, Prescott is a star and the Lions are in trouble.

Start ’em — Cowboys VR George Pickens

The Cowboys seemed confident that CeeDee Lamb had a big game against the Chiefs. They wanted everyone to know that he was still the Alpha in the reception room.

But the truth is, the Cowboys have two Alphas in the mix. And Pickens should cause plenty of problems for the Lions’ secondary. Look for Pickens to catch a 30-plus yard touchdown. And he should easily surpass the 100-yard mark receiving. Lamb could eclipse that mark as well.

The Cowboys won’t hesitate to throw the ball at Pickens in this game. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him rack up seven or eight catches.

Start ’em — Lions RB Jahmir Gibbs

It wasn’t a great day for Gibbs as the Lions suffered a tough loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving. But that probably means there will be a comeback. This is especially true if Amon-Ra St. Brown is not on the field. Gibbs will have to make some big plays through the air.

Gibbs alternated big rushing plays with smaller ones throughout the season. Check out this breakdown:

  • 19 and then 94
  • 67 and then 91
  • 54 and then 65
  • 136 and then 25
  • 142 and then 39
  • 219 and then 68

Yes, you can make a small case for some of the smaller games going against good defenses. But the truth is on the record. When Gibbs rushes for 90-plus yards, the Lions are 5-0. When he doesn’t, they’re 2-5.

If the Lions are going to have any chance of knocking off the red-hot Cowboys, Gibbs will need to shine.

Quarterback Jared Goff said Gibbs is special, ESPN reports.

“I have the best seat in the house,” Goff said. “It’s really cool. I think I put my hand up when he was about 7 yards downfield. You can see the angle he’s going to take and the angle the safety is, and it’s over. That’s what makes him so special is that next-level speed.”

Sit ’em — defense of the lions

Guys, this is frivolous. After five weeks as the starting D/ST in 12-team leagues, the Lions have finished 23rd, 21st, 24th and 30th. And now they get the Cowboys.

They’ve only produced one bag in the last three weeks. And that means that Prescott will operate in space and time. The Lions defense will be crushed by the Cowboys offense.

Forget hoping for the odd thing on Thursday night. And just… don’t.

Look for the Cowboys to score early and often in this game. They should be able to pull away and get a 34-24 win.
