Duo Dillon Brooks – Colin Gillespie makes the Lakers miserable!

Dillon Brooks with the SunsThis is called an abrupt termination of the sequence. While it is Lakers stayed on seven wins in a row, c Suns in a less good form, they signed an unexpected demonstration of force on the floor of the Californians (108-125). All the more unexpected that the guests lost Devin Booker, hit the groin after a strong start, after 10 minutes of play (11 points).

Paradoxically, his departure through injury benefited Jordan Ott’s men. Especially for the one who decided to wear a “superstar” costume for an evening: Dillon Brooks. After a balanced first quarter (31-31), the Canadian took control of the Suns’ attack, multiplying mid-range finishes with constant ease in creating his shot.

The match then turned into a long-distance duel between him and the only real threat, Luka Dončić. The Slovenian also cut through the opponent’s defense with great pleasure, only the Suns’ defense was much more active than the Lakers’. Late in the second quarter, the local playmaker would chain several carries that were too sluggish and easily intercepted.

Boos from the Cripto.com Arena

Jamaree Bouiea, in all good shots (+19 to score), even looked to steal the ball behind Doncic, Jose Alvarado-style, before passing the ball to Mark Williams for a dunk. Dillon Brooks, who never stopped provoking the local public as well as lebron jamesthen Royce O’Neale, incredibly the best passer of the night (11 assists, tied for career high), and then they converted three-pointers at the head of the racket alternately and fueled a 19-4 in favor of the Suns.

A sequence that would bring a few whistles from the Cripto.com Arena and allow the guests to take a good lead at the break (52-66). The public will have nothing to appease other events, spending time wondering when the Lakers machine will start. Answer: never. Rui Hachimura remained perfectly silent on offense, when Austin Reeves and LeBron James were also too passive.

As in the second, the visitors finished the third quarter strongly, with the winning basket by Colin Gillespie, then the recovery of the latter to Ryan Dunn by the forgotten California layoff.

The same Gillespie was so heated that he wanted to answer directly to Austin Reeves with a three-pointer from the first intention. On the right side, he went so far as to give his team a 25-point lead (113-88). The California Rebellion will not take place.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

The Lakers used up too much ammunition. The statistics alone summarize the development of events: the home team lost twice as many balls as the guests (22-11). And Luka Dončić himself lost almost as much as the opposing team (9). A big gap that is all the more damaging because the Suns used these “turnovers” very well, scoring 32 points after recovering these balls. Which notably allowed the Suns to score 28 points on the counterattack…compared to just 2 points for the Lakers.

A career high for Colin Gillespie. If Dillon Brooks was the driving force behind the Suns after Booker’s injury, narrowly missing a career-high 37, Gillespie was perhaps even more impressive with the level of confidence he displayed. Especially in the fourth quarter where he freed up his wrist a little more and made three more 3-point baskets.

Little LeBron James. One of the questions about Garbage was whether he would be able to keep his 10-point streak going. Did something on his only 3-pointer of the night. Before that, LeBron James, who missed the previous match, seemed very worn out in the game, it is difficult to provide defensive retreats. Rarely have we seen him so little engaged and active on offense, even preferring to bounce a shot under the circle to better get the ball to Dalton Knecht in the second quarter.
