Coaches of the Month | Mark Daigneault and JB Bickerstaff were logically rewarded

Mark Daigneault with the ThunderNot surprisingly, Mark Daigneault etc JB Bickerstaff were selected as “Coaches of the Month” for October/November, in the West and East.

The Thunder coach was rewarded for a historic departure from Oklahoma City, the league’s best record with just one loss on the clock after more than a month of competition. The symbol of a dynasty in construction, the reigning champion has joined a very tight circle of teams starting at 20-1 or higher.

Only the Warriors in 2015/16, the Rockets in 1993/94 and the Knicks in 1969/70 had previously accomplished this feat.

In Detroit, JB Bickerstaff continues the Pistons’ metamorphosis. After reigniting the franchise last season, he led his team to an impressive 16-4 record during an East-best run led by Cade Cunningham in MVP mode and only selected as “Player of the Month”.

These monthly trophies confirm two strong trajectories at the start of the season: on the one hand, Thunder already established among the big names and fully taking over the status of reigning champions. On the other hand, the Pistons have become competitive again much faster than expected, pushed by a staff that has found the right formula around its star.
