In New York, Karl-Anthony Towns is hoping for a contract extension
More than a year has passed since then Karl-Anthony Towns is installed on New Yorkas lieutenant of Jalen Brunson. He acclimated to his new franchise fairly quickly after leaving Minnesota, accumulating outings of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
However, before recovery, leaders from Nix did not offer him a two-year extension that could reach up to $150 million, which would be added to the roughly $110 million he is guaranteed to receive through 2027.
However, that doesn’t change the expanded desires of Karl-Anthony Towns, who grew up in New Jersey.
« Of course I want to stay here » he assures. « Obviously, being able to be home and see my family means a lot more than money, so being here with the fans and family means a lot to me. So I would like to see it continue. »
Especially since “KAT” maintains good relations with his managers, who seem to be in no rush to re-sign him: ” Me, (President) Leon Rose, (Vice President of Basketball Operations) Gerson Rosas… They all get along great. I could eat with them now, things are going so well between us » he reveals.
A new system for assimilation
Statistically, Karl-Anthony Towns has certainly dropped off between this season and last season, going from 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds to 21.7 points and 11.9 rebounds, but his awkwardness is weighing on him quite a bit, shooting just 45% (including 3-3s).
Now coached by Mike Brown, the All-Star interior, however, says he’s not concerned about his personal situation, while he’ll be able to sign a possible extension right after the 2026 Finals.
« It is only the second place that I occupy in our system. A completely different system » he naturally recalls. ” So when I’m post 5 or post 4, it’s a completely different story for me during a match. But I’m trying to influence the win as much as possible and I’m happy to be able to do that so far this season. »
