James Harden was ‘opposed’ to LA signing Chris Paul during the offseason

The fallout surrounding the LA Clippers releasing Chris Paul suddenly in his final NBA season continues to worsen.
According to reports, James Harden allegedly expressed disagreement to the idea of the Clippers signing Paul first, according to Kevin O’Connor of the Kevin O’Connor Show on Yahoo Sports.
On Friday, O’Connor, along with Tate Frazier, said Harden was not interested in Paul joining the Clippers.
“I mean, absolutely a failure of leadership for sure, and I think you know what they’re saying publicly is one thing,” O’Connor said. “I’ve heard from multiple sources that James Harden was against signing Chris Paul, that he was one of the guys that said, ‘Eh, I’m not really sure here. And then it ended.”
If Harden didn’t like Paul being part of the team, and this is happening, is it a coincidence?
Right now, the situation with the Clippers couldn’t be worse. They have a record of 6-16 so far. Also, some of their own key players are struggling with injuries. Not only that, but also investigation into Kawhi Leonard for manipulating the salary cap continues to hover over the organization.
Moreover, the Clippers are considering the Harden trade.
Could things get any worse for the Clippers?
For time and memory, the Clippers have always been one of the laughingstocks of the NBA. With everything they do now, both on and off the field, the stigma becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
On the field, piling up injuries have led to a significant lack of depth. Off the court, they owe their 2026 first-round draft pick to the defending champion OKC Thunder. That’s because of the 2019 Paul George trade.
And with aging veterans clearly disgruntled and looking to get out of shunt, perhaps the worst really is yet to come.
