As Chris Paul’s post hinted LA is fighting

Chris Paul‘s unceremonious exit from Los Angeles Clippers has been the subject of discussion in recent days. In a move that completely surprised the NBA world, Paul was cut by Los Angeles seemingly out of the blue. Even Paul himself was surprised by that move. The chaos that followed showed the dysfunction of the current Clippers team.
If we had looked a little deeper earlier this year, we might have seen the cracks starting to appear. Back in late November, Paul posted a cryptic IG story. In the story, the Clippers star merely posted a screenshot of the definition of the word “free space.” The fans were naturally confused as to what was going on.
Well, Chris Haines is here tell us exactly what happened. An insider said the cryptic post came after a disagreement between Paul and coach Jeff Van Gundy. Van Gundy did not take well to Paul’s defensive coverage against the Mavericks, leading to a feud between the two.
“Jeff Van Gundy called a meeting on the plane with Chris Paul and asked him if he changed the defensive assignment,” Haynes said on NBA on Prime. “Chris said, ‘No, I didn’t change the assignment. I just suggested we might want someone else on Klay because Kawhi wasn’t hot yet.’
Van Gundy didn’t take too kindly to Paul’s comments, saying, “Maybe in other places you’ve had the freedom to change defensive coverages, but here you don’t have that freedom.”
Once one of the most prized players in Clippers history, it’s sad to see Paul’s final year go down like this. The veteran has already taken a role on the bench this season due to his struggles. Unfortunately, Paul and this current team just don’t seem to be the right fit. They currently have a 6-17 record through the first few months of the season.
