James Harden surpassed Carmelo Anthony on the NBA’s all-time scoring list



The LA Clippers are trying to dig themselves out of the hole they created to start the 2025-26 season. James Harden was doing his best to try to turn things around for the team. The Clippers were on the road to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, and James Harden marked a major turning point in his careerovercoming Carmelo Anthony on the NBA’s all-time career scoring list, according to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

James Harden moved into 10th place all-time on the NBA’s career scoring list. The Clippers lost to the Wolves 109-106, but Harden finished with a game-high 34 points.

Despite that The Clippers are off to a bad start to the seasonHarden was one of the lone bright spots for the team. Entering Saturday’s game, Harden had appeared in 22 of the Clippers’ 23 games, logging just over 35 minutes per game. He averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 37 percent from the 3-point line and 90.2 percent from the free throw line.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Harden is now in his 17th season in the league and third with the Clippers. A native of Los Angeles, Harden was acquired by his hometown Clippers ahead of the 2023-24 season. He started his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and also played for the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.

Moving into the top 10 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, he is behind Shaquille O’Neal who is in 9th place with 28,596 career points. By the end of the 2025-26 season, Harden will surpass O’Neal as well.
