The Sooners land the 4-star over USC and Oregon

Oklahoma football secured two significant places on Sunday. The Sooners found out they would be the eighth seed in the College Football Playoff. But OU additionally beat out a representative from USC, Nebraska and CFP Oregon – by landing a four-star linebacker.

Hours after learning their CFP fate, OU released defensive lineman Eli Harmon from Inglewood High School in California. Harmon revealed his intentions to join OU after Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals gave up his dedication graphics.

“ALL IN! Home sweet home!” Harmon said via Favcett.

Oklahoma and head coach Brent Venables one of the top prospects in the country for 2027. And one already looks set to take the trenches in Norman.

Oklahoma closed out the cycle in ’26 stealing North Alabama’s Kristan Moore. The move helped top the No. 15 overall recruiting class in the country.

But OU jumped to No. 1 this early after securing early signings.

Venables and the Sooners have made a number of commitments for the next cycle. Harmon is rising as the 11th verbal commitment for a playoff-bound Southeastern Conference team. OU gets what 247Sports’ Greg Biggins called a “big space eater.”

“Harmon is a big space player in the middle of the defensive line. He will be a rare four-year starter in Inglewood and can beat opposing linebackers/centers with speed and strength. At 6-3, 285 pounds, he is tough to move around, plays with heavy hands and is extremely quick off the ball,” Biggins he wrote in his review.

Harmon told 247Sports’ Blair Angle that OU plan on the defensive line for him sold him on the Sooners. He also added that playing for the SEC’s top defense was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

Inglewood High, located five minutes south of SoFi Stadium, has become a major producer of future CFB talent. Andre Nickerson represents the class of ’26 and is headed to SMU. Now Harmon is adding future representation of the Los Angeles area.

meanwhile, Oklahoma must continue without cornerback Gentry Williams who was injured ahead of the Dec. 19 battle against Alabama. But now let Harmon be ready to watch his future school make a run for a national title.
