OKC ties franchise record after demolishing Jazz


Oklahoma City The Thunder matched one of their franchise records after their huge win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night.

Entering the matchup, Oklahoma City has had an outstanding start to the 2025-26 NBA season. After winning the NBA Championship last season, they began their title defense in dominant fashion, crushing their opponents game after game.

The Thunder got the job done during the matchup against the Jazz. They dominated the hosts from start to finish, despite being without star defender Shai Gilgeous-Alexander due to injury. With victory, they acquired their franchise record of 15 consecutive victories.

How the Thunder played against the Jazz

The Thunder made easy work of the Jazz on Sunday night, outscoring their opponents 131-101.

Oklahoma City outplayed Utah early in the game, taking a 45-20 lead after the first quarter. The Jazz never recovered from this, seeing them trail by a wide margin throughout the contest.

Perimeter shooting, rebounding and ball movement made the difference in this matchup. The Thunder won in all three categories, making 21 triples, 44 rebounds and 32 assists. It wasn’t the same for the Jazz as they made just 12 3-pointers, grabbed 37 rebounds and dished out 25 assists.

Six players scored in double figures for Oklahoma City in the win. Chet Holmgren led the way with 25 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, one assist and a steal. He shot 12 of 15 from the field, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc. Jalen Williams had 25 points and eight assists, Aaron Wiggins had 19 points and three rebounds, while Usman Dieng had 14 points and three assists. Meanwhile, Branden Carlson had 13 points and six rebounds, and Kenrich Williams had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Oklahoma City improved to 23-1 on the season, owning the best record in the Western Conference standings as well as the entire NBA standings. They are over the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets by 5.5 games.

With 15 straight wins, the Thunder will be looking forward to their next game. They will be at home when they host the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Cup quarterfinals on December 10th at 7:30 PM ET.
