Nick Emanvori didn’t mince words about the ‘kick a**’ mentality

The Seattle Seahawks they’ve transformed their defense into one of the league’s most punishing units over the past two weeks, surrendering just nine points in eight quarters. Every level of the defense contributed, but the secondary, led by rushing rookie Nick Emanvori, delivered the biggest statement in Sunday’s 37-9 dismantling of the Atlanta Falcons.

Despite the early inconsistency, Emanwori said in his postgame press conference that there is no panic in the locker room at halftimeexplaining that head coach Mike McDonald delivered an emphatic message reminding the group of their identity.

“We just believe in what we can do, we weren’t stressed at all,” Emanwori said in a YouTube clip shared by the Seahawks Press Pass. “We didn’t think anything of it. It’s just who we are. Mike (McDonald) gave us a little pep talk, but the same thing — stay on the process, stay focused and go out there and shoot **…He called it at halftime.”

Emanwori’s breakout performance didn’t start right away, mirroring Seattle’s slow pace in the first quarter. But once he settled in, the rookie safety took over.

The rookie’s confidence only grew as the game went on; his interception, punt and blocked punt made him the first player in Seahawks history to record all three in the same contest. And after the win, he didn’t hold back when describing how powerful he believes this defensive unit is.

“Man, this defense is special,” Emanwori added. “This defense is super special. This is probably one of the best defenses I’ve ever played on. It’s my first year as a rookie, but I don’t think any defense can top this, honestly, we have a lot of special guys on this team…I think this defense is historic.”

Seattle is 63-9 over the last two weeks. They forced eight fumbles during that span and scored three defensive touchdowns on the year. Their dominance elevates the Seahawks back into the NFC debate, and Emmanwori’s rise becomes the central story.

With the Indianapolis Colts coming to Seattle next week, the Seahawks have an opportunity to further solidify their defensive identity. If Emanwori and this group continue to improve, his lofty mentality could become the defining motto of a unit pushing for historic status.
