Brian Schottenheimer doesn’t care about George Pickens

The Dallas The Cowboys acquired a wide receiver George Pickens may be the best offseason move. His presence helped revitalize the Cowboys offense and helped push quarterback Dak Prescott into the MVP conversation. He was also a major reason for Dallas’ resurgence in the NFC Wild Card standings. While it’s easy to praise Pickens for his impressive play, there’s always the underlying concern that he could fall into bad habits similar to his days with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickens’ duplicitous personality reared its ugly head against the Detroit Lions in a Week 14 44-30 Thursday Night Football loss. With questions about Pickens’ efforts resurfacing, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer explains why no worried o videoout’s forward play or behavior.

“We talked a little bit about it,” Schottenheimer told the media, via John Machotta of the Athletics. “In his own words, he says, ‘Hey, Shorty, I didn’t play my best game.’ Unfortunately, none of us played our best game. It’s real. But I don’t worry about George and his love for football and playing the game.”

Dallas has already benched Pickens once this season, during a Week 11 opener against the Las Vegas Raiders. The reason for the disciplinary action was curfew violation. Fast forward two weeks, and Pickens is already making headlines again for the wrong reasons.

There is no doubt what Pickens offers on the field. In 13 games, he has caught 78 passes for 1,179 yards and eight touchdowns and is a possibility to be a Pro Bowl candidate this season. However, as an impending free agent, Pickens will need to keep a clean nose to help Dallas in their late-season playoff push, as well as secure a bankroll.
