Nicolas Batum disputes that LA players want Chris Paul gone

The The Los Angeles Clippers were through the first quarter of the 2025-26 NBA season, is currently 6-18 after a recent road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Recently, the team caused controversy when they unknowingly parted ways with point guard Chris Paulsending him back to Los Angeles while they were in Atlanta preparing for the game against the Hawks.
Since then, there have been some reports that Clippers players wanted Paul out of the locker room, but recently the Clippers have been making progress Nicholas Batum assures reports that this was not the case.
“They didn’t ask me. Like everybody else, I just woke up and got the news. That’s it, the situation is worse… If something happened, I really don’t know about it… It’s sad sometimes to be a part of it. On both sides. And the fans. Just wish the best for CP,” Batum said, according to Joey Linley, a former Twitter player, on Twitter.
Batum also talked about what Paul meant to him as a teammate.
“I texted him the first day it happened…Obviously I have a lot of respect for him…21 years and a Hall of Famer…I’ve had the opportunity to play with a lot of great players. He’s one of them. So I just wanted to text him and thank him for the time I had with him.”
Overall, the Clippers have yet to fill Paul’s vacant roster spot. There were some reports that Paul and head coach Tyronn Lue weren’t on speaking terms in the days leading up to the shocking firing, but at this point, no one outside of the Los Angeles organization really seems to know what happened.
Either way, the Clippers will next take the floor Thursday when they host the Houston Rockets.
