Desmond Bain’s statement will have Orlando fans thinking about the NBA Cup
This season is starting to look an awful lot like last season Orlando Magic. They couldn’t seem to get their entire squad back to health before the start of the new campaign; with Paolo Bunchero back from injury, it is It was Franz Wagner’s turn to make amends with an ankle injury that looked much worse at first glance.
But the Magic are nothing if not resilient, and on Monday night, at NBA Cup quarterfinal action against the Miami Heat, they were able to pull out a win — thanks in large part to another incredible effort from offseason blockbuster acquisitions, Desmond Bane.
Bane had plenty of stinkers in magical uniformbut the the performance he set on Tuesday is the very reason the Magic set out to acquire him in the first place. He scored 37 points on 14-24 shooting (6-9 from deep) and with six rebounds and five assists led Orlando to a 117-108 victory.
“Time to win. Time to win, you know what I’m saying? That’s all I care about, is winning,” Bane said in his postgame interview, via the official ClutchPoints account on X (formerly Twitter).
“Beating time. That’s all I care about.”

Bain scored 15 of the Magic’s 28 points in the final frame to stave off any Heat comeback, and his versatility as a scorer, as well as his skill from deep, make him such a key piece for Orlando in the long run.
The Magic are two wins away from dominating the NBA Cup

While winning an NBA championship trumps all other accomplishments in the league, winning the NBA Cup is still a great source of pride. It also bonds teams, given how the prize money is spread evenly across the team – helping those at the bottom of the roster as well as team staff.
The Magic now await the winner of the quarterfinal clash between the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors for their semifinal contest in Vegas.
