Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s face in the middle of an almost all-out brawl sums it all up

With Oklahoma City Thunder showing his usual dominant performance in a 138-89 win over the Phoenix Suns in the quarterfinals NBA Cupfrustrations were great for the team. Grayson Allen, in particular, seems to have had enough and decided to take an early shower after being ejected for a hard tackle on Chet Holmgren that the referees deemed worthy of awarding two flagrant penalties.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a a perfect first-hand view of what happened because Allen was Holmgren’s man and Holmgren was simply setting a screen to try to free him. And it was pretty hilarious how Gilgeous-Alexander reacted as an all-out brawl nearly ensued after Allen’s unsportsmanlike foul.

This game was as one-sided as it can be for a contest of this magnitude, and at this point, players are simply left scratching their heads on how to beat this powerful Thunder team. Maybe Allen got the memo that OKC can be irritated by physical play, but even then, it all made an argument with a game already decided long ago given the deficit the Suns were facing at the time.

This isn’t the first time Allen has been called for a similar foul, so this kind of behavior shouldn’t surprise anyone anymore.

The Thunder must be very motivated to win the NBA Cup after falling in the finals of the competition last year. Last year they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks; this year they are very nicely set up to go all the way especially after thoroughly dismantling the Suns.

They have now booked their place in Vegas for the NBA Cup semi-finals, awaiting the winner of the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs on the other side of the ladder.
