The Dubs get an update on Stephen Curry’s injury ahead of the Timberwolves clash
SAN FRANCISCO, California – Doc Stephen Curry missed the Golden State Warriors last five games with a left quad contusion, Steve Kerr provided some positive news on the star quarterback’s status for Friday night’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Steph did everything in practice. We battled; he was a part of the whole thing,” Kerr told reporters Wednesday night after the Dubs’ first practice of a three-game stretch.
When asked about his availability for the T-Wolves game, Kerr described Curry’s status as “day-to-day” but was optimistic about his chances of returning to the lineup.
Curry’s full participation in practice was an encouraging next step in getting the point guard on the court after a series of encouraging events.
Earlier, Curry did not travel with the team on their three-game road trip because the Warriors decided it would be better for the 37-year-old to rehabilitate in the comfort of Bay. And since Curry suffered a quad contusion on Nov. 26 against the Houston Rockets, by the time the Timberwolves game rolls around, he’ll have 16 days of rest and recovery, if the Dubs’ medical staff gives him the green light.
The Warriors went 3-2 in five games with Curry out, with the two losses coming a respectable 124-112 against the one-loss juggernaut Oklahoma City Thunder and a narrow loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. In Curry’s absence, Kerr turned to Pat Spencer, whose efforts on the road gave the Dubs the spark they needed to knock off the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls on back-to-back nights.

Warriors injury update on Draymond Green and Al Horford
As for the Warriors’ other injury concerns, the defensive anchor Draymond Green, who is nursing a nagging right midfoot sprainhad a personal excuse and did not practice Wednesday night.
Dub’s other big veteran, Al Horford, was a limited participant in the Warriors’ training session and did not participate in their intense showdown. Kerr sidelined Horford for Friday’s matchup with Minnesota as the five-year-old recovers from a sciatic nerve injury.
“It has to come together for a few days before we put it in there,” Kerr said. “We’ll see how they come out of today’s work.”
Horford’s sciatica sidelined him for four games before he returned against the 76ers last Friday. But the injury flared up again and forced him to miss the Cavs-Bulls back-to-back. It is a similar injury to the one that left out LeBron James earlier in the season and continues to plague the Los Angeles Lakers star.
In Horford’s absence, Kerr turned to Quinten Post, whose shooting and defensive efforts have been key to the Warriors’ success on the road. With Horford’s status currently murky at best, the Warriors will surely look to Post to continue his strong play of late, as well as look to Trace Jackson-Davis moving forward.
But aside from Horford’s status, Golden State looks to be on track to be as close to full strength as possible since the opener.
