Anthony Edwards’ streak draws a challenge from the former MLB star

On Tuesday, streaming service Amazon Prime released a new series focused on athletics Minnesota Timberwolves superstar guard Anthony Edwards.

The show, titled “Serious Business with Anthony Edwards,” is about former No. 1 overall NBA draft pick he steps out of his comfort zone to challenge some of the best athletes and celebrities in other sports as well.

With Edwards’ show already getting some buzz, the former Major League Baseball star pitcher came out on issue a challenge Timberwolves franchise player.

“Hey @anthoniedvards if you want to face the Cy Young winner for your challenge series, I’m here in Phoenix. Get in the box,” the former Los Angeles Dodgers star Trevor Bower he wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.

Bauer may be a long shot from being on the show for now, but at least he got Edwards’ attention.

Bauer was once one of the best pitchers in the big leagues and even won the 2020 National League Cy Young Award while still with the Cincinnati Reds.

But he also hasn’t pitched in MLB since the 2021 campaign after being suspended for 324 games (later reduced to 194) following allegations of sexual assault by multiple women. However, Bauer was never charged with a crime, and has since taken his talents overseas while still hoping to one day return to the MLB.

After all, this is nothing more than a side gig for Edwards, whose the main goal will always be to win the NBA championship.

With Edwards as the clear face of the Minnesota franchise, the Timberwolves have become one of the top teams to watch not only in the Western Conference but in the entire league.

Edwards and the Timberwolves came this close to making the NBA Finals in each of the last two seasons, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2023 and 2024 before being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder in those playoff series, respectively.
